Jamie is a born and raised West Coast girl. Originally from Vancouver Island, Jamie moved to Vancouver to attend West Coast College of Massage Therapy, graduating in 2007. She fell in love with Vancouver and decided to stay to start her career. After 9 years of private practice in East Vancouver, accompanied with 5 years of teaching neurology at Vancouver College of Massage Therapy, her husband was offered a work opportunity in Powell River in 2016 and she has never felt more at home.
Jamie's treatments have been described as effective, informative, and relaxing. She believes that the nervous system plays a major role in how our body processes, feels and holds onto pain. While releasing and finding those "Painful spots" can create temporary reliefs we want to answer the question of, "Why those spots are there to begin with?" That is how we can truly help someone change the pattern of there pain.
Jamie's main focus in her practice has been postural re-alignment and restoring range of motion due to joint or muscular dysfunction. Myo-facial release, trigger point therapy, passive/active stretching as well as Swedish and deep tissue are all techniques you can expect to see when you come in for a treatment. She also believes in the power of simple relaxation: sometimes just allowing your body to unwind can help with a lot of our day to day stresses aches and pains. Never be afraid to come in just for a relaxation treatment.
She has had success, as well enjoys, working with various issues like chronic low back, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, Plantar fasciitis, and Sciatica. She has also had the opportunity to work with many complex cases including Mulitple Sclerosis, ALS and Traumatic Brain Injuries.
When not at work you will find Jamie hiking many of the local trails with her dog Jack, swimming in many of the beautiful lakes, or relaxing at home with friends and family.
Jamie's continuous passion for holistic health care, coupled with her kind compassionate and caring attitude, creates a wonderful healing environment for those seeking care.
